Yettinahole project: Govt identifies land for afforestation

As part of the Yettinahole Integrated Drinking Water Project, the Karnataka government has identified 508 acres of land in Hassan and Tumakuru districts for afforestation activities.

 The identified lands are located in Chikkanayakanahalli in Tumakuru district and Belur and Arasikere Taluks in Hassan district.

About the Yettinahole Integrated Drinking Water Project The Yettinahole Integrated Drinking Water Project is a significant initiative by the Karnataka government to address the acute water shortage in several districts.

Key Details: Purpose: 

The project aims to supply drinking water to drought-prone areas in Chikkaballapur, Kolar, Hassan, Chitradurga, Tumakuru, Ramanagara, and Bangalore Rural districts.

Stages: Stage 1: 

Focuses on lift component works and the construction of a 260 km gravity main canal. 

Stage 2: 

Includes feeders that will deliver water to various towns and villages.

Groundwater Recharge:

 Besides supplying drinking water, the project will help in recharging groundwater by filling over 527 tanks in the region. Completion Deadline: The project is scheduled for completion by March 2027.
