World's Highest Green Hydrogen Plant

The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has set up the world's highest green hydrogen plant in Leh, Ladakh.

This project is a significant step towards promoting sustainable energy solutions in high-altitude regions.

Key Details:

Location: The plant is located in Choglamsar Village, near Leh, Ladakh.

Solar Power: A 1.7-megawatt solar photovoltaic plant powers the facility.

Hydrogen Production: The electricity generated is used to power an electrolyzer that splits water into hydrogen and oxygen. 

Daily Production: The plant produces 80 kg of hydrogen daily, which is used to fuel five intra-city fuel-cell electric buses.

Environmental Impact: The project is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 350 metric tons per year and release 230 metric tons of pure oxygen annually.
