Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced the creation of a separate secretariat for the Kalyana Karnataka region on December 22, 2024.
This decision was made to address the long-standing demand from the people and elected representatives of the region for a dedicated administrative body to handle their issues.
About the Kalyana Karnataka region The Kalyana Karnataka region, formerly known as the Hyderabad-Karnataka region, is located in the northern part of the Indian state of Karnataka.
It was merged into the Indian Union on September 17, 1948, following Operation Polo. Special Status: The region enjoys special status under Article 371J of the Indian Constitution, which provides for its development and welfare.
Renaming: The region was officially renamed as Kalyana Karnataka in 2019 to reflect its historical and cultural significance. Development Initiatives: The Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB) was established to oversee the development of the region.
