The 12th edition of the Kumbh Mela will be held at T. Narsipur, Karnataka, from February 10 to 12, 2025. It is coinciding with the Mahakumbh to be held at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh from January 13 to February 26, 2025.
Confluence:
Takes place at the confluence of the Kaveri, Kabini and Spatika Sarovara (a mythical lake or spring, also named Gupta Gamini) known as Triveni Sangama at the holy site of Thirumakudalu.
It is often referred to as the "Prayagraj of the South" due to its spiritual importance.
Historical Context: Origin:
The Kumbh Mela at T. Narsipur has roots in ancient Hindu traditions and is held once every three years in Karnataka. The first event was conducted in 1989.
The last one was held in 2019. It was not held in 2022 due to the Covid-19. Thus, the mela is being held after a gap of six years.
