ISRO successfully fires LVM3 cryogenic engine

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully conducted a sea-level hot test of its CE20 cryogenic engine on November 29, 2024. This engine will power the upper stage of the LVM3 launch vehicle, which is crucial for the upcoming Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission.

Test Details: 

 The test was conducted at the ISRO Propulsion Complex in Mahendragiri, Tamil Nadu.

CE20 Cryogenic Engine: 

 The CE20 engine has been qualified to operate at thrust levels ranging from 19 tonnes to an upgraded 22 tonnes for future missions. It features a multi-element igniter, which is essential for the engine's restart capability in space.
