India's first 'Writer's village' inaugurated

India's first Writer's Village, named Lekhak Gaon, was inaugurated in Thano village, about 24 km from Dehradun, Uttarakhand on October 25, 2024.

Purpose: The village aims to provide a serene and inspiring environment for writers to create and collaborate, addressing the need for dedicated spaces for literary and artistic work.

Key Highlights: 

Brainchild: The initiative was envisioned by former Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, a distinguished writer himself.

Facilities: The village includes amenities like a library, meditation-yoga center, auditorium, Himalayan museum, Sanjeevani Bhojanalaya (restaurant), and dedicated writing cottages.
