India re-elected to UN Peacebuilding Commission

India has been re-elected to the UN Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) for the term 2025-2026. This reaffirms India's commitment to global peace and stability.

As a founding member and a major contributor to UN Peacekeeping, India continues to play an active role in supporting peace efforts in conflict-affected countries.

About the UN Peacebuilding Commission The United Nations Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) is an intergovernmental advisory body established in 2005.

Its primary role is to support peace efforts in countries emerging from conflict and to marshal resources for post-conflict recovery.

Composition: Members: 

The PBC consists of 31 member states elected from the General Assembly, the Security Council, and the Economic and Social Council. It also includes top financial contributors and troop-contributing countries to the UN system.

Advisory Role: It advises the UN General Assembly and the Security Council on peacebuilding and sustaining peace.
