About Go.Ru.Channabasappa: Background: Born on May 18, 1930, in Gondedahalli, Chikkamagaluru district, he started his career as a school teacher in 1948 and has been actively involved in various social movements, including the Bhoodan movement and adult education.
Contributions: He has authored several significant works in Kannada literature and folklore, including Honna Bittevu Holakella, Karnataka Pragatipatha, Cheluvambike, Kunala, Sakshi Kallu, Bellakki Indu Bedaryao, Bagur Nagamma Grama Geetegalu, Mahadevi, Sadashiva Shivacharya, Vibhuti, and Karnataka Janapada Kalegalu.
His contribution to the field of folk studies is immense and he was instrumental in establishing the Karnataka Folklore University at Gotagodi in Haveri district. Recognition: Dr. Channabasappa has received numerous awards, including the Karnataka Natak Akademi Award and the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award.
