Bengaluru City's first air taxi

Sarla Aviation a city-based startup, in collaboration with Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL), plans to offer air taxi services from Electronics City to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA).

Named in honour of Sarla Thakral, the first Indian woman to obtain a pilot’s licence in 1936 at age 21.

Key Highlights: 

Commute Time: The estimated commute time is just 19 minutes, compared to the current 152-minute drive. 

Fare: The fare for this air taxi service is expected to be around ₹1,700.

Technology: The service will use electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, which are designed for short urban commutes. 

Safety: The eVTOL aircraft are designed with multiple redundancy systems, making them 100 times safer than helicopters.
