Prime Minister Narendra Modi was bestowed with Kuwait's highest honour, the Order of Mubarak Al-Kabeer, by Kuwait's Amir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah, during his historic visit to Kuwait.
This visit marked the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Kuwait in 43 years.
About the Order of Mubarak Al-Kabeer: Purpose: The award is given to Heads of State, foreign sovereigns, and members of royal families as a symbol of friendship and goodwill.
History: Established in 1974, it honors Mubarak Al Sabah, also known as Mubarak the Great, who ruled Kuwait from 1896 to 1915.
Previous Recipients: Notable recipients include Queen Elizabeth II, former US Presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton, and King Salman of Saudi Arabia.
